I launched the Essential Spring Fly Fishing Guidebook and kicked off my first giveaway—and if you're new here, welcome! A lot of you are reading Fishy Fridays for the first time, and I’m glad you’re here.
Every Friday, I share a quick roundup of my favorite fly fishing content—highlighting great creators, cool stories, and anything that gets me fired up about fishing. On Tuesdays, I send The Drift, where I take a deep dive into one major trout food you’re likely to run into on the water. Next week’s issue? A big one about a small bug—Chironomids. I learned a ton researching it, and I can’t wait to share.
Looking back on this week, I just feel grateful. One of my biggest hopes for Tight Fly Lines was to create opportunities for real connections in the fly fishing community. And I can feel it starting to happen. The stories, questions, and messages you’ve sent have been incredible—and I’m even meeting up with a new fishy friend for lunch today. My fishing calendar is filling up fast, and I can't wait to hit the water and connect with more of you in the months ahead.
But I don't just want this to be about connecting with me—I’d love to help you all connect with each other, too. I believe it’s possible to create something special here, something that brings this community closer together. If you have ideas for how we can do that, shoot me a message. I’ve got a few ideas brewing myself, and I'd love your thoughts.
Alright, let’s dive into some great fishing content. Tight lines!
Exploring New Waters with The Curious Angler
If you haven’t checked out The Curious Angler yet, you’re missing out. Nick’s latest article recaps his winter fly fishing season with incredible photography and a thoughtful reflection on what left him curious—exploring new water. That’s something I’ve been pushing myself to do more of this year, and it’s been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. His perspective really resonated with me, and I think you’ll enjoy his write-up.
Teddy at Cast and Iron captures the kind of moment we all chase—a flawless chrome steelhead, mist rising off the river, and that big, satisfied grin. His IG feed is an awesome mix of fantastic fishing and delicious campfire cooking. If you’re not following him yet, you should be. This shot in particular? Absolute perfection.
